Creative Slab Building and Raku Firing Workshop

This was a fantastic workshop run by Mark and Sally and it was lovely for me to take part as a student for a change.  After a brief introduction we were thrown right into the thick of it when we had to do a series of 1 minute drawings .... the still life .... the room ... and each other .... all without looking at the paper!!!
Then after a quick cuppa we moved on to doing quick mono-prints.  The intention of all this was to make us completely free up our thoughts and to draw spontaneously and freely and by the end of the morning that is what we were all doing.
We then stopped for our lunch before moving on to using the clay with the intention of using the textured slabs to build sculptural pieces in the same spontaneous way. We had to work fast and by the end of the session we all had about five pieces of work ...
All brilliant fun and very liberating!!!
Now all we have to do is dry and fire all the pieces so that next Sunday we can raku fire them all ...
can't wait!
