Sunny August Raku

Just about recovered from the very full on, intense August raku workshop. We had a full group, with 10 students, half of them bringing their own pots and sculpture to fire. We were once again lucky with the weather which swung from baking hot to showers in the afternoon, but not enough to stop the firings, just lots of running around covering unfired work and hiding things under tables.

The egg shells of Pam's fired exceptionally well considering their fragility - I think because they were fired in the ceramic basket she had made which held the heat and didn't allow them to cool so fast that they would show no signs of reduction.

Again we had fabulous cakes made by Adelaida - a pistachio one and orange & almond .... yum!

It was a very long day with the last firing coming out a 6.30, but we had some fantastic pots and sculptures to show for it.
