Raku Workshops ... New Dates For 2020
It's that time of year again and time to start thinking about longer, warmer days that means the beginning of the raku season!
New for this year will be a special workshop for those who want to master the technique of Naked Raku to be held on Saturday 25 July. We will spend the whole day looking into this magical technique. If you want to make your own pieces we will give you detailed notes well in advance on the type of clay, burnishing techniques and the shapes to make sure that you can achieve the best results possible. Mark and I will also prepare bisque fired, burnished pots that can be purchased on the day from £6 each.
Also planned for later this year will be a Two Day - Raku Fired Clocks Workshop. Suitable for all levels of ability. The first day you will make slab built clocks and more if time permits, then you can book on any of the raku dates to fire your pieces. The date has yet to be confirmed (we are hoping for July/August) as we are awaiting confirmation of room booking - but expressions of interest can be emailed to us if you think you might like to attend. The cost will be £200 (which includes bisque firing and all materials including the clock mechanisms) both days be held at Westbury Arts Centre and will run from 10am - 5pm.
